It's all about making small indents on the surface, are they visible to the naked eye?

The little timber and strawbale house where most of this Mermaid Turbulence happens sits on a soft hill in very rural south Leitrim. In moving here, I have become rooted - more than I ever was in twenty-three years spent in Paris and ten years in Dublin. I am now of this small place that I can point to on the map. Because newcomers are rare, within a wide radius, people around have known from the first hour who we are and where we live. Like my neighbour, I think our townland Annaghmaconway, or to be more precise our lane, is the best place in the world. On being accepted here, by the land and the inhabitants, my sense of belonging has become very strong. There are so few of us living here: where not so long ago there were so many houses; so many families who left; so many voices that ceased to be heard. We were thanked for bringing in a little life, we are thanked for stopping here and enjoying here. In return, we relish the peace in which we make our own noise; we enjoy the space to expand; we follow the seasons; we choose our customs. We've come to the time of our lives when we are ready to very busily make: make children, make books, make art, make felt, make cheese, grow food, plant trees, build shelters.
Mari-aymone Djeribi, together with architect Dominic Stevens, farm just under five acres with their two small children - tending goats, ducks, cats, chickens, one pale donkey, trees, in short doing that magical thing, getting on with nature, growing food. Once a week she bakes sourdough breads and delicate pâtisseries that she sells on saturday mornings in Knockvicar organic garden in neighbouring county roscommon. Visit Maison Djeribi to find out more.
In 1993 Mari-aymone Djeribi, founded Mermaid Turbulence - a one person publishing company that mainly brings out artists' books - either her own work or collaborations with other artists. Although some books are commercially printed, she mostly works by hand and with a few tools- printing digitally or with a 19th century letter press. Mermaid Turbulence is present at international book fairs and its artists' books are widely collected and exhibited around the world.
