My name is Pete Kern and I am a native of Germany. I came to Ireland twenty seven years ago as a holiday maker. I fell in love with Leitrim and decided to stay. It was through the support of the Leitrim County Enterprise Board that I was able to turn my hobby into full time self-employment. Rainbow Candles has been producing candles for over twenty years now. All of my candles are fashioned by hand, utilizing a method of pouring. My collection includes dinner candles in an array of colours, scented candles in ceramic bowls and candles in a range of chakra colours.

A few years ago, I decided to broaden my range by adding pure beeswax candles to the collection. I believe that candle light attracts good spirits, and as the candle flame converts positive ions into negative ions it enhances and purifies the air, in turn creating a relaxing atmosphere.

All of these candles I create within the peaceful setting of my old farmhouse in Dromahair, the historical village know as a place of inspiration for the poet WB Yeats. I left the rat race behind and I have never looked back…
