‘I love creating drawings of people's homes, capturing their sense of place, of the people within that place, of home.’

I see myself as an illustrator, rather thank a fine artist. I produce a visual commentary on current events, people and places in my own (as said by a friend) idiosyncratic style! Since moving to Ireland, my main focus has been on renovating an old run-down farmhouse and bringing up my beloved daughter. I am also establishing an organic vegetable garden and I have a poly tunnel. I have felt the need to go back to the land, and this is my current passion. I was born in rural Yorkshire and left to go to Art College. Having then spent most of my life living in cities, I feel that I am going back to my roots. Now I have the time to appreciate the changing seasons and enjoy my own fresh fruits and vegetables.

I still paint and draw. I have turned a small room in the house into a studio: my own private space. I used to paint at my kitchen table, but I found it quite distracting to be near the clutter, hustle and bustle of the "heart of the home". My direction is to continue producing art work based on what I see from my imaginative perspective. I would like to produce work based within the public sector on the social changes taking place in Ireland. I enjoyed working in England producing artworks for the Derbyshire Health Board, the Black County Museum and in the confectionary industry for Cadbury/Bourneville. "Beneath four moons" was an emotive, illustrative project I worked on with a writer who recorded elderly people's stories looking back on their lives.

I love creating drawings of people's homes, capturing their sense of place, of the people within that place, of home…
